The situation is about to worsen: up to 150 post offices within stores owned by TG Jones are at risk of closure. Jobs are at stake – thousands are threatened – but so too is the fabric of local communities.
As Communications Workers Union executive council member Mole Meade pointed out, "postal deserts" will become a reality in areas where post offices close without alternative services being put in place.
